The default setup on a web server is to show the path as Forum Promotion does. The .org you go to most likely has additional settings in .htaccess to show just the domain. You won't have to do anything for it to show up like you want it to.

It actually depends on your forum software, however by default it will have something trailing the URL, your pages can't all be mysite.net it just wouldn't work unless it was cloaked.
