Anyway, if there is a site with a domain thisforum.com and the user has bought copyright rights for the name thisforum, is is not possible for someone to get a domain for thisforum.net or would that be copyright infringement?

That exactly. Just wondering as it says copyrights content so no mention of name, domain etc.
