Hi - I'm looking into domain prices, but I honestly have no idea what to do.

I'm currently looking at a .co.uk from Godaddy, but I use Zetaboards and utilise the website builder there.
If I got a domain, would I be able to continue using the website maker?

Are there any hints or tips you have about domains?

Are there any shock horrors I shouldn't do?

You just add the domain and Zetaboards is still the same but with the new and improved domain name.

I'm sure you can if there is a section for allowing domains to be added. This would depend on the host or site you're using.

People do prefer short and simple. Memorable domains are best; ForumPromotion.net is memorable as it's too the point, however, this will come as your site develops. Look for domains that either have a keyword, or outright Web 2.0 (usually made up, or a mock up of a word eg. flickr). However, it's how you market the name which is the most important thing when it comes to any site succeeding. "Google" was garbage talk when it first came out. No one cared; no one even bothered. The site was promoted, and advertised through word of mouth, leaving flyers, business partners etc. This turned into the biggest thing on the net (apart from the net itself).

I would say to a certain extent to avoid hyphens. People will not remember it as easily and if you promoted it through word of mouth, it will be a bit harder. Also, avoid long, long, very long domains like: thisismyforumdomain.co.uk. However, again, it's how you promote your domain 🙂

Thanks a lot for this, that was a real help. Does anyone recommend any sellers?

Ah, I see. And just to be 100% sure, if I was to get a domain, I wouldn't have to pay for hosting with Zetaboards?
