Domains?

I know what they are, but how do I get one? And if I change mine from awesomeaxing.createforum.net , to axing.com , will createforum.net's updates affect my forum?

You can get domains from many places like http://www.godaddy.com seems quite popular.
And no any createforums.net's update will not affect your board as you are still hosted with them but you have a fancy access link. Sometimes you can buy domains also through the forum provider (createforums.net in your case) but i don't know about yours.

No.

Owning a domain is just a fancy way to get to your site. Your forum will still be hosted at you current forum host and you won't get anything extra (apart from an easier to remember URL) unless you host the site yourself (like here). To add mods you need access to the forum files and you can't get that through buying a domain.

Cos the lousy createforum.net admin won't install cash mod, even when every other forum provider has it.

Not every forum host... Freeforums.org (which is the host i used to use) don't have it and i have seen many more that haven't. Still a domain is still good as it does make your forum look more professional.

Oh, because on carsonk's forum, I saw he had added currency since he got his domain, and also edited the New posts/No New posts thingamabobbers. I thought I could do that too.

CarsonK has upgraded his forum to advanced hosting where you have access to all the forum files like what i have done here.

There are so many providers to choose, if you want to save money, there are a lot of coupons and promotions, discounts for the purchase of your domain. Some providers that you can look at as GoDaddy, 1 & 1, Namecheap, etc.
Createforums.net's updates will not affect your board.
