Okay. If I were to get a redirect domain, would my site still be hosted by createforum.net, and would I still upgrade as they do?

Like my site would still be accessible from http://awesomeaxing.createforum.net/index.php but also from a new domain of my choosing?

yes. Host it with a site that allows redirects in the cpanel then click on redirects and just change the root domain to your forum.

You should be able to use both your createforum.net link and your domain if everything is set up properly. Createforum.net should have more information on how to integrate your domain into their forums.
