Donations Yes? No?

Do you let your users donate towards your website and what do they get if they do?


I myself allow people to donate and have and are having a bit of people going to donate to my newest project 🙂. When you donate on my website you will not see advertisements anymore. And can view our VIP forum which includes free wallpapers (usually have to pay)

I used to have a subscription thing going, but removed it. Need to get it back on, but Im thinking of a new donation method.

They shouldn't be given anything if they donate, if they donate that means they enjoy the forum and the return prize is the forum keeps going online.

If someone who to donate / buy VIP which is basically the same thing why would you buy VIP/donate if you don't get any extra features.

I have a few donation groups that, depending on the size of the donation, depends on what extras they can have.

I am not new, and my previous statement still stands.

A donation is a donation, meaning you donate money to not expect anything in return. If people ask for something in return, it's technically a "purchase".

You wouldn't donate to charity, then demand something in return would you? No.

I would have a donation button in the navbar, but I wouldn't go creating topics like, "Donate now" and stuff like that.

I usually just put the paypal button at the bottom, no pressure to donate, just that button.

It depends how big the forum is, most peoples forums arent big enough to get enough donations. So I answered no

I don't have a donation button but I do have a V.I.P subscription set up. A user can choose up to three lengths of the subscription and the money they pay for that goes towards skins, mods, advertising for the site.
