It's never bothered me, really. If you get replies, that's great, but if you don't, that's okay as well. I promote at more than one forum as well, so I think that's why it doesn't bother me as much as it would have, I suppose.
Yeah, it can be frustrating, I agree. Although reading some of the same responses over again can get kind of annoying. Like "nice site, keep up the good work!" or if someone hasn't joined yet but is thinking about it, "I like the look of your site and I might join soon" I admit, I make the same sort of comments about sites I like, so it's really hard to do any real constructive critisim.

You have to bump in the right times. Not randomly 🙂 You have to be smart here, lol.
The only thing you are ever going to get from such a section is generic replies that do nothing for you really. It's not really effective because there is no real incentive for anyone here to do anything other then bump their own thread and post generic useless comments in other people's threads to raise their own post count to gain forum money.
At least that's what I seen from most of the threads I read through in the basic promotion forum on here and elsewhere.
Then again, forum admins of other boards make for terrible members on your board anyways as the only thing they are likely to be thinking is "can I advertise on this board?" and "what can this place do for me?" That doesn't make for the kind of member I would want IMO.
