Don't you hate promotion sites?

Right well before I actually start... I would like to say I do not hate FP, I am saying that I
dislike other promotion sites. The reason why is that I wouldn't mind any of them but
the majority of them just exactly copy FP and have no original content.

All promotion forums I have seen have a package forum... 'basic promotion' forums review teams
and all and don't have any original ideas that they created themselves.

Now promotion forums are ok, but they wont get any extra activity in my opinion because
the same people on here go on other promotion sites and the promoting just goes round in
circles.

What's everyone else's take on this?

Oh and just a warning here people, I'm not attacking others
and there sites but if anyone starts flaming in the slightest I'm getting an Admin right away
because things such as this are good for conversations but some people may take it out of context
and just flame others, so you have been warned.

Exactly what you said, but it's hard to be original on a promotion forum now. There's really no other services people can come up with, and they just think , " i'll copy what FP does because they are popular " but it doesn't work, because no one wants to join a site exactly the same as FP with less members.
 
I have to admit ideas for promotion sites are limited but yeah, people just copy and expect the sites to do well but they just fail.

I don't even bother at looking at new promotion forums. I know what will be there, and I know it will fail.
 
i don't mind other promotion forums its good to advertise on other websites that way it can grow fast
 
I'm admin at another promotion forum...

So I love that forum (Admin Network), ForuMansion, and....formerly FA.

^^ that's pretty much my outlook on it, as well.

Not for all promotion sites, but usually about 80% of them don't make it too far.
 
i have to agree, but sometimes people have a genuine idea and run with it.
other times people may just want to try their hand at this promotion forum thing, and it sometimes works.
so i have to fight for both sides here
 
FP has more activity and services than most promotion sites. Chances are whatever another promote forum provides can be provided quicker and better at FP.

At least, that's what I've noticed.
 
Well I don't really dislike all promotion sites (i love this one) but the ones I do dislike are the ones that have copied all of FP's ideas and such, and I could name a fair few that have done that.
 
I am pretty sure that there would have been other Promotion sites that were here before FP so you cannot say all other sites copy FP because first of all there would have been other sites like FP before FP were made, and second who says FP has the rights to owning all these idea's? Show me a copyright in documentation, legally obtained through a judge saying FP does own all the rights to Package Teams etc?

Also, can you come up with a new idea that will help promote peoples sites? What I mean is a new service, why don't you try making one that will be on topic to Promotion sites, you will find it's very very hard.

Im not agianst FP nor hating on it, your all just acting like FP was the first ever Promotion Forum/website ever created which I doubt is true.

I only join a promotion forum that i think can pull though and be a good promotion forum.
Only a tiny percent of promotion forums make it and i am always proud to join them.
 
I run my own Promotion forum too and i must admit i have "copied" FP a little, it takes time and effort to come up with your own ideas and mostly you just want to start quickily. About the copying of "Review Team" and stuff like that if your going to have a review section your not going to name your Reviewers "Google Team" are you? So the team names are fine.

Promoting at any site is great, even if they do copy another, it means more back links and such.

You are mostly saying you dislike promotion sites, as the only real big ones revolve around FP and the formerly known FA. You can't say one Promotion forum is the same as the other, nor can you say you hate them, but you can say you dislike their services. Either way people will see this thread as an attack so be ready for it.

Personally i don't care if someone thinks that my Promotion site is just another copy of FP, cause it may be now but in the future who knows, besides it gives an oppurtunity for people to meet new people, sites to be indexed on new search engines and so forth. If you don't like it then don't promote your site and don't get more back links, it's as easy as that.

Another thing, you may think cause you see another Promotion site having the same mods or whatever as FP that they've copied FP, but that's untrue, unless FP actually made the mods it doesn't mean anything.

Besides a new and unique service doesn't mean anything, if people who have stated "I don't even bother to look at them cause i know they'll be a copy" then what'd be the point? Doesn't mean that no-one should do it but im just saying it wouldn't matter with attitudes like that.

Then again you could look at google and yahoo, both offer the same thing and yet both are huge, so sometimes it works out.

This post doesn't mean that i don't love FP, because i do, it just means you should always give something a chance no matter what.

It's not just Promotion sites either, it's even gaming communities, topsites & directories (same issue with the ones FP has, so this can reflect on FP too), money making blogs, webmaster's discussions, PTC's, etc. almost every niche is in the down for this, so you can't say it only for Rromotion sites, it just makes us all look bad..
 
All Forum Promotion boards allow you to advertise, hence gain more back links, I don't see how any others are considered rubbish?

They are what we make of them, if we all were active on FP and another new promotion board, I bet that one would do well too.

Promotion forums these days definitely aren't original. They all copy someone some where.
