Draco's Forum - Peer Review

Just a little review:
Likes:
-I like it how there is a consistency between colours. People will tend to remember your forum by the skin, or scheme, and yours is purple and black, so when people here purple and black, they will remember your forum.
-Its a forum, and thats what is being displayed first. Thats good as most of the time, portals really distract people, defy the purpose of a forum.
-I could easily located the register button. Most of the time, the register button is crammed at the top, on one side, in normal font, so its barely visible. Yours is quite clear and simple to the eye.
-Ads are at the bottom, which is a plus. Its not a distraction, nor does it take up too much space.
Dislikes:
-There is nothing unique about it. I know its new, but tell me, why would someone want to join?
-I think you have just a little too many forums. Try to group those which are related. Its easier for new members to locate, and easy for you to navigate. Having a lot of forums, where most of them have little amounts of posts, will make it look inactive, and visitors won't like that.
-The banner is a little bland. Nothing much going in there.You could incorporate an image of a chart showing "gowth", and something for people to admire.
-The administrator's colour is uniform to the rest, so you won't be able to stand out from the rest. People will regard you as a normal member, which is good most of the time, but not good when showing authority etc. (but not a major thing)
-I noticed when I opened two forums up, yours took a considerably longer time. To be honest, the other forum looks as if it has more features, so that should have taken longer, but yours did. Just have a little check on your host.

-I wouldn't say there is nothing unique about it though I would say that at the moment, it doesn't feel unique because I have implemented everything yet. I think the general purpose of it isn't something that isn't seen very often and that the tools I plan to implement are even rare. Not many forums have a library section, in fact I've only seen it in one other forum. I've seen sections labeled library for book discussion but as for a repository. Just one other than my own. I have vet to see a forum with a section dedicated to non-profit organizations. Also, despite it being a plug-in on the MyBB website, I rarely see anybody make use of the video gallery. I also rarely see forums dedicated to spirituality that will go to such lengths to make sure people of all paths are included.
- This is being currently addressed in the Suggestions forum.
- Yeah, I don't know if the banner is staying or not... I wanted something that would fit for now until I figured out what to do. I like the current one but there's just something missing. I don't know if a chart would send the message though... I'm hoping someone will reply to the Banner thread. I'll think of something. 😉
The Administrator color isn't uniform to the rest. It looks that way because the "new user" is seen as the same color and that's irritating and I'm going to change it eventually. XD normal members have white usernames, Admins have purple.
Unless you meant uniform to the rest of the site in general.
- It was actually down for a minute or two earlier and has been running slower all day. I thought it was my Internet connection at first but then it became obvious they were having problems, and now you've confirmed it. It's usually pretty quick. I rarely have a problem with my host, their great and it was down for a minute, maybe a little more at most... so I'm assuming they are just having a bad day. :sad:
