If I plug my flashdrive into my desktop and drag and drop or copy microsoft word onto the flashdrive, can I then plug the flashdrive into my netbook, and simply use word or again...drag and drop word from the flashdrive to a folder on the netbook?

I'm not sure you can since MS Word's installer also install registry keys in your registry and other files in other locations beside Program Files folder/Ms Office.

But, it might be possible to use the install CD to tell Office Word on to your hard drive.

Should help you out.

Or you could install abiword which is a great free program on the same level of ms word.
Or Open Office, which is better than abiword as it has all the same things as Office does.

Google Docs is an okay word proccessor which you can use on your Web browser, and you can import your files as .doc or .pdf when you are done.

Open Office is a full office program It also does not do everything ms office does. I only suggested ABIWord because he is using ms word.
