I've finally run into a Facebook group with an engaging audience. It was one full of drum teachers. Well, my material (from the forum) is getting mostly a positive vibe I think with some tough critics. Of course, music is often a very elitist thing, so somebody doing some "indie drum lessons" is going to have some punches. Anyway, I liked well-informed criticism, good or bad.
Anyway, a new face is often going to be seen as pretentious maybe. However, my stuff isn't meant to be true representations of jazz, reggae, whatever. It's basically, "If it sounds good, who cares?". Anyway, music evolves. There is no definition on what is rock, jazz, metal etc..
Another problem I have ran into is a perception that some stuff is foundation material but not a true transcription of what players are actually doing. Well, my response to that is that people can expand on the material, with their own imagination.
Well, what do you all think?
