Have you ever asked yourself, Why is my forum dying? Even broader, have you seen other forums slowly lose vibrant activity? What are some red flags you have seen?
For forums, I’ve mostly seen the Staff not caring anymore & not encouraging participation. While we need members, I feel the owner should keep on with posting.
What is your opinion?
No such thing as a dying forum if the owner is persistent and never gives up. A dip in activity is just an opportunity to regroup and strategize new ways to revitalize the community. However if the owner stops caring and loses his/her motivation, then the forum is doomed.
In these days forums doesnt have a life compared to 8 years back. I have seen here most of them were having more than 2 forums but they didnt made money like blogs make even it has low traffic.
I too got tired when their is no active in my forums and also get bored to see it. I am now on the way to keep active and posting daily. I am hoping to get SE traffic to my forums soon.
Well, I have never asked myself "why is my forum dying," however, out of 4 forums, only one is an active forum. Two forums do not have any activities and the fourth is just a work in progress.
I would never say a forum is dead or dying unless the forum got to the point where it just was not there anymore. A forum that is still live and accessible always has the opportunity to be revived if the owner wants the forum to be revived. The only time a forum dies is if the owner completely gives up.
I've seen this forum nearly die one too many times to not notice why. The reason why, really are a few reasons that generally contributes to the death of most forums anyways.
1. An inactive owner, who expects the leaders of the forum to push for activity, yet they don't.
2. An active or inactive owner, who says or does nothing to encourage the activity from both the staff and community.
3. No notable changes that would technically boost activity, if the changes were actually made.
4. Changes that were made, that did not make sense to do, effectively making it difficult to find a topic interesting enough to be able to actually reply to.
5. Nearly all the staff revolting at the same time, and trashing the forum in the process.
Reminder, I have seen the above on this forum, and also on a number of other forums too. Sometimes it is one reason out of the list, And other times it is a mix of 2 or more of those reasons.
