Is it easier to get traffic from other non-Google search engines, or other reffering websites via signature links, blog commenting, link exchanges, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace.

I think it would be kind of easier getting traffic from other Websites since not a lot of people I know still use Bing, Yahoo, Ask, AOL, and other less popular search engines. Most of my friends and people I know just use Google.

Plus, according to Google Analytics in the search engine section, not a lot of people found my site searching from Bing, Yahoo, AOL, Ask, and other search engines.

But, I get more Traffic from YouTube then Yahoo for one of my websites.

I think websites because websites can grab people that will stick with the forum while search engines traffic is generally from people "googling" a certain term or phrase and looking for that and that only.

Indeed, lots of people from search engines tend to be mostly looking for information rather then a community like a forum or a blog to share and talk about information.

In my opinion you would be better joining a few forums of a similar nature and asking the admins for a link exchange or a signature. As has been stated in the thread search engines often are used for information. This is not to say that a search engine will not work for you if you have relevant searchable threads as this can make visitors to your site stick around if they feel your forum is useful.
