Effective Advertising Services?

Hi there, guys~

As we all know there are so many advertising forums/websites in this world of internet. They offer many kind of services: from post packages, reviews, table advertisements, banner advertisements, signature advertisements, and so on. From all of those, which one(s) do you think are most effective of all?

A deeper question will be: what actually decide on the effectiveness of an advertising service?

I think that of the options listed that post packages and reviews are the least helpful for advertising. (This does not mean they aren't useful... but in terms of getting the word out? Not that useful because only 1, maybe 2, are actually going to be seeing your site. Yes, the post package generates some activity but that won't help if you have some activity already and need to spread the word. Similarly, reviews can tell you what may need addressing or why guests might not be joining... But that doesn't get people to actually visit your site. )

Signature advertisements are ok... but their effectiveness is limited by the fact that if you expect them to be useful you need to post around a given community a LOT. And plus the fact that just because your signature has been seen by people doesn't mean they will click.

Table and banner ads are probably the most effective types of the ones listed because they're seen by everyone that views the forum. But they tend to cost the most to get and your site is only displayed for a limited time. Plus there is a waiting period before you can use these services again.

As for the actual effectiveness, for most of my answers above it's getting guests to visit a site. If the method isn't getting people to visit the site then it's not a great advertising method.

I may not be completely sure about definition of 'advertisement', but I thought its first purpose is actually to give more exposure, meaning to get more visitors? Getting people to join your forum has more to do with the forum itself than the advertisements, although exposure does have something to do in it too. Just not very big of a proportion.

I agree about signature advertisements. I'm not sure if table advertisement works since it's usually not at the top of the forum, or a more stand-out place.

I think the most efficient are banner ads. Since nobody goes through packages or reviews, or look at things at the bottom, etc. banner ads or ads at the top, in my opinion, are the most effective because people have to glance at them one way or another.

One weakness of banner ads I can think of is that it only shows one banner once at a time. Visitors may not bother to refresh the page to refresh the page, so only one banner will be at advantage under such situation. Kind of a lucky draw, if I may say, haha~ XD
