The Internet blockade imposed by the Egyptian government in response to growing civilian unrest is unprecedented, both in its nature and scope, according to network monitoring firms.

Unlike other incidents where governments in Iran, Tunisia and elsewhere tried to control the flow of information by throttling specific Internet services and sites, the Egyptian government seems to have simply pulled the plug on all Internet services nationwide.

At the rate we're going, this will be America in a few years. The corporations will decide that the internet is just "hurting their profits" too much. 😛

All the conservatives would have to do to shut down the internet is utter the magic word: "Nineleven."

I bet there was civil unrest. They can try and stop people from being informed but it will only serve to make people more determined. Once people got wind of the internet I bet they found out there are also books out there that aren't online. Next their government will start book burning.

Next will be the UK :/

UK? What the Queen or Prime Minsiter doing something wrong that pissed off people?
The monarch has very little power in the UK now. The Prime Minister of the UK is an idiot, though.
