Certain people want to control people for their own good - sort of, parent the world. But I see this as a very evil thing - but it's sort of an outgrowth of this whole "better the world" mentality among certain types (health police, some religious types, the rich etc..), so it's not surprising it's gained a lot of power.

Anyway, when is parenting others cool and when is it intrusive? I mean, most adults are of sound mind.

Well, with how trends are going, we are seeing more and more people in the U.S., for instance, that believe not being heavy handed, will supposedly help a child be ready for adult life. Meanwhile, there are still people who think that being heavy handed is better than not doing anything about the child.

I believe, if parents really do care, they should actually try to find a way to balance being heavy handed, and with allowing kids to be kids. My parents did a pretty good job at that.

Being heavy handed with kids is sometimes good, but certain types overkill and also try to parent sound minded adults. I mean, it's like "up yours". :grumpy:
