What would cause an email ban to not work? I set one up for *.mail.ru and those types of emails are still signing up (not here on FP).

You likely haven't set a good Q&A question then also by banning .mail.ru then you also banning everyone that also uses it that is not a spammer. It's a hard hard point of view. To stop registrations from the .ru TLD you need to ban *@.ru or another option just ban their full email address, as we all know they can make another email with a different account name and network

Most accounts with mail.ru are spammers, in fact, most Russians are spamming.

You need to be discerning of accounts that get created. I'm not saying every Russian is a spammer, but MOST are.

It requires the @ symbol.

Like so: @*.mail.ru then enter it on xenForo, and it will add the wildcard automatically, like this *@*.mail.ru

Same goes for this style of emails @mail.ru

Yeah, I think I forgot the @ sign. I was just copying one of the other things that was in there already in ACP.

I'm not stupid, just ignorant when it comes to a lot of stuff in ACP. Thanks for helping!

Ok, ok, ok, I'll stop. 😆 🤣 😂

I actually was dealing with some massive spam on Discuss Communities. They spammers never were able to post (aside from a few times) because they had to be reviewed but I ended up banning a list of email domains which has significantly stopped the spam.

I'll share my list in case it is helpful to your community

*.space
*.top
*.email
*.kz
*.quest
*.wiki
*.ink
*.pics
*.fun
*.club
*.site

I blocked CHina once the full country XD
I would probably consider blocking some countries if I felt that my niche really had no usefulness for them.

Then you can help save resources even with that.

I might not block China with my current niche but I'd consider blocking their search engine bots since I'm not trying to rank on their engines.

Had to do it since I was getting a raid of spammers from china one day, I had over 5K traffic one day that lasted 3 days till I block it
