I think the biggest trend now is to hit the social media. Mainly Facebook. If you're able to have rich easy to read, fun to look at content on your site then the possibilities of driving massive amounts of traffic into your site is immense with the share functionality. Think of it as a pyramid, you share then your friends share then your friends of friends share and so on and so on. No better way of marketing your site!

If i give my opinion then I think in 2014, Internet marketing experts will target to mobile users to promote their services and products. In 2013, websites were made mobile version friendly to target mobile users. Same strategy will work in internet marketing in 2014. As mobile users are increasing with leaps and bounds worldwide.
The biggest trend now is to pay a good attention in producing high quality content. Building links from quality sources such as theme based guest posting, some blog commenting on related topics and article submission on high traffic article submission sites are some of the major trends to make an online presence for your website.
