I use emoji's mostly in text messages, personal email, and forums. Not in every message I send, but it is something that adds a "human" persona. On the other hand I don't use them for work emails as to me it (can) be unprofessional. I'll add items like a smiley face or exclamation point though. I think there can be times when they are used too much and it detracts from what you're trying to say... on forums especially I see an overuse. Some people think if you don't use emoji's in a message that you're brusque but I disagree.
