I'm excited to tell you about how to have fun with a small budget.
1. You can ask neighbors, family member, or friends to borrow their dvd's and you can trade them some of your's in return.
2. Get a library account and borrow dvd's for a couple days, even new releases! Even borrow children and adult books to read!
3. Have everyone bring over either an appetizer, entree, or dessert so your not stuck doing all the food.
4. Ask everyone to bring their own drinks so your not having to supply alcohol.
5. Make chili for a huge gathering, it's cheap and delicious!
6. Invite friends and their kids to come over so the children can have a huge gathering and the adults can socialize together, no baby sitters needed! Ask everyone to eat before they come and just bring snacks or ask them to bring a snack and a meal so you and the children have a huge variety to chose from.
7. If you want just an adult entertaining night; tell everyone to come over at 10 (if your kids fall asleep by 9) and go into your basement (the side of the basement where the kids bedrooms aren't over). Just tell everyone to be quiet and keep a baby monitor in the basement. Just in case one of your child cries and you have to attend to them and then one parent can stay down stairs and be the host. You don't always have to give up your social life because you have kids.
Kids Entertainment
1. take the kids to the park and have quality family time together. Since everyone is busy during the week with school and work, take time on the weekend to spend it with your family and have fun!
2. Go for a picnic; grab all your favorite and your kids favorite foods and bring it to the park with you.
3. When at the park look at the bugs or animals out at that time and educate them about their habitat and what they eat. This will take pre-planning before you go but it's worth it to teach them something new. They will get excited to learn about the insects because they haven't seen them before or they have always wondered about them. Kids love to learn about everything!
4. Go on cheap field trips (plane museum, butterfly conservatory, science museum, etc); the kids will have a blast learning new things and you will as well (there's always something new to learn everyday).
5. Read your children a book every night before bed time or even during the day as a circle time to get them excited about learning something new. Library accounts help a lot!
Try to find local attractions around your neighborhood and always spend quality time with your children whenever possible.
