Got an epidural injection a couple days ago, for my lower back that is causing pain to gravitate down my right leg. Didn't think I would ever get a shot delivered to my lower spine. Apparently I have a bulging disk going into the spinal nerve column, and has been causing me pain for the last couple of years.

Anyone else ever had to get one of these shots?

I never even got one when I was pregnant and giving birth to my daughter (which is what I thought the thread was going to be about!).

Is the back pain better even though you now have pain lower than that?

I’ve never gotten an epidural, and I’ve only heard of women getting them during labor. Hope that relieves your pain.

No. I hope I'm never in so much pain that I would need super strong pain killers. In any case, I hope you make a good recovery. Back pain is no joke.

I've never had those shots. I hope you get relief! Have you tried a chiropractor? We've had success with back pain with having adjustments. Downside, can get pricey if insurance doesn't cover.

Outside of the injection site, seems to be doing a whole lot better. Oh yeah, I can see why this would be about that.

Yeah, I have had various chiropractor visits. Doesn't help that well, with a spinal disk going into the spinal nerve column, if an epidural isn't injected. My insurance covers up to 50 between the main and secondary insurance. Hoping that once I can verify it is working correctly, the next couple of chiropractor appointments will turn out better.

Hoping too! Seems to be doing some help right now.

I had what I thought were (could be wrong) two steroid injections into my lower spine area to alleviate the pain caused by a number of prolapsed discs when I was in my early 20s. I do recall the guy that did it was huge and used his weight to do some kind of manipulation as well. I remember the injections stung like nothing I'd ever experienced before and the manipulation was pretty terrifying but whatever he did it kept me pretty mobile until my 40s so it was well worth the trauma.

Ouch. Unnoticed herniated discs are not fun. My father got a shot for a couple of them.

I do know now, that the doctors who give the shot, prefer to use a mobile xray that allows them to see the needle as they inject, so that they don't hit something that they weren't planning to go to with the needle. Didn't get to see the needle on my end, but I can figure it was a pretty big needle.

The last steroid injection I had in my shoulder was done using some kind of live scan for and I've been pain free in that area for years whereas all the previous unguided injections lasted less than a year.
