What’s your take on the ethics of capital punishment? It’s a polarizing issue; some argue it’s justice for the worst crimes, while others say it risks irreversible mistakes and questions the value of human life. Where do you land on this?
The concern I have for it is something that brings me back to "The Green Mile", where John Coffey is executed and is completely innocent. It's a real concern in the real world. Our justice system is human, too. Humans make mistakes. How do we justify death?I'm a conservative, but I really can't get on board with the death penalty. Sometimes I feel that people deserve it, but then it's hard being pro-life and wanting someone to die.
I think the death row wait time is because of all the appeals that are allowed. (Direct appeals, State post-conviction review, federal habeas corpus, additional motions or petitions, clemency)I'm totally for the death penalty for criminals who do something REALLY bad. People on death row already. Like why should we as tax payers pay for them to live? I think if you are put on death row then you should be put to death within a month and NOT years and years.
I understand but I don't even think they should get all those appeal requests.I think the death row wait time is because of all the appeals that are allowed. (Direct appeals, State post-conviction review, federal habeas corpus, additional motions or petitions, clemency)
You'd wish you had them if you were the one on death row and were completely innocent.I understand but I don't even think they should get all those appeal requests.
Yeah but I don't plan on going to jail for anything crazy. You'd wish you had them if you were the one on death row and were completely innocent.

🙁 That's so sad and probably all because he was black. Right? The movie Green Mile was based on the story of a black middle school boy being wrongly executed (probably was wrongly executed)
He was framed supposedly but it was the 1940s.🙁 That's so sad and probably all because he was black. Right?
I used to be for the death penalty. But these people sit in prisons until they pass away. They can't get out and hurt innocent people. And, they can't learn from their mistakes if they're dead. The concern I have for it is something that brings me back to "The Green Mile", where John Coffey is executed and is completely innocent. Yeah, but look at some of these crimes they do, hitting babies to death?I used to be for the death penalty. But these people sit in prisons until they pass away. They can't get out and hurt innocent people. And, they can't learn from their mistakes if they're dead.
Yeah in this case if they're sitting around in jail they're still a target and probably would get murdered by the inmates. If you're in there for hurting children or animals the inmates don't take that lightly.Yeah, but look at some of these crimes they do, hitting babies to death?
When I mentioned "But these people sit in prisons until they pass away" in my post, I wasn't meaning old age. Other prisoners take care of them for free instead of the states blowing millions of tax dollars on the dp. Steven Sandison makes a great example.Yeah, but look at some of these crimes they do, hitting babies to death?
