I think it looks really nice but some of the images besides the forum might look better if they was transparent.

We tried it that way and with all of the skins we have (14 in all), we had to compromise a little.

It's almost impossible to get the images free of background distortion and make them transparent. At some point I will add my own unique images instead of the current images.
