As an admin, or even staff member on a forum have you ever broken your own guidelines?

With the exception of the odd double post in quick succession and a few other things, I'm pleased to say I'm a goody goody 😀

No I have never broken my own guidelines. When you make them you have to follow them to set a good example to users otherwise members will most likely just follow what you do.

When the webmaster does it, it's not illegal.

Just kidding!

I strive to lead by example on my forums. I'm sure there are times when I've made a slip-up - happens to the best of us - but I certainly don't make a habit of it.

Lol. Agreed

I've allowed users to stay on my site when I know they should be gone. I've also let Tayne and Luke spam AH. That was only for a post count milestone.

The only rule of my own that I have broken was no swearing. After flipping out on a member (for good reasons) I got rid of the rule as no other member was affected by my swearing and they all deemed it necessary and appropriate.

I then added the rule that basically meant people couldn't bring their flame wars to other member's threads.

I accidentally posted in the wrong forum on my board once. 😛

I've done that too when I first ran a forum. I quickly learned to move the topic to the correct spot before my error was noticed lol

Nope, though I have seen an admin on a forum I am a member of break his own rules 😛.

Some admins just think they can break the rules, Which you cannot really, Because members are looking @ what your doing and then doing it to fit in and be accepted.

I've personally attacked people when I can't stand what they're saying before on my site, like ultra right wingers saying all gays are pedophiles or all muslims are terrorists; but other than that I try my best to be a good boy 😀

Not that I can think off. I may have done a double post now and then but I usually just edit my original post and tell people I have edited it.

Don't let efc fool you he deletes/edits my posts all the time to make it look like I break rules >.< lol

Would that be me? I have a few times. Accidental and intentional double posting. In most threads in the Announcement forum we allow staff members to double post if they are giving new information (say we are running a competition etc). It's technically against the rules but we consider it a necessity.

Only on accident. I've had my posts edited by the owner on one site and banned. And they troll on that site all the time.

Whenever you double post it's usually necessary for updates and such, so I wasn't referring to you double posting. 😛

Nope. Sometimes, I might make a moderation mistake, so I alter it, or someone else does.

This obvious ones like being offensive, I don't ever break them.

Double Posting some times, with a quick edit/delete right after, few spam posts, occaisional editing of another member's post... Changing signatures/Ranks to something funny, though not against the rules, people don't like it.

However, all that stuff is only done to my staff who don't mind at all.

I don't think a Moderation Mistake can really be counted as breaking the rules ........... ? It's just a mistake.

And no I cannot break the rulz as I don't have any on my Forum, apart from basic common sense, respect and harmony.
