I find that top lists are an excellent way to advertise, all your website info is right there on the homepage🙂

I wonder if it really works. I'm not sure what if top sites get a lot of visits from various people, and that it also depends on the niche of the forum. More popular niche like general discussion forums or advertising forums like FP might get a decent stats rise, but if it's something more unique and specific, there might not be much change.

So no, I never used top sites before.

You all correct, nich, visits/views etc are key and on top of that making sure the Top Site you are on is clean and up to date. They other issues is, if you do not embed the code provided by the Top Site, your site will bottom out if the site has lots of users.

phpbbc has a very good one and its growing

They're kind of antiquated (late 90s/early 00s), and to tell you the truth, I've never had success with one.

I don't use them, never have, probably never will. They are cluttered, unorganized, and can't really prove anything in my opinion. All it is is a competition of who can get the most users on their forum to click a little button, not actually who's the "Top" forum/website.

This. Although I have used them with bad results.

Also, now that I've reread the topic title, I understand what he's saying, lulz.

I thought he meant FP making a topsite XD
