Has anyone here ever worked in a factory before? I currently work in one, during the summertime it's absolutely brutal. The area I work in is usually warm since we work by machines that weld parts and powder coat shelves in a oven. I've been working at my job for almost five years now, and you never really get used to the heat. Thankfully when it was consistently hot a few weeks ago they let us leave an hour early for most of the week. Factory work is tough, but it's also rewarding too. It's fun working on parts and seeing how different things are made.

I myself have never worked in a factory. I know of people that have and they say that the job is definitely not as bad as many make it out to be.

My eldest worked in a factory for one day but unfortunately, due to the atmosphere and his asthma and allergies, he had to give it up as it was affecting his health.

Not sure if it is the same everywhere but factory work is one of the highest paid jobs.

Yes, I have worked in a factory once. It was in a block industry that I worked in when I was 21 years old. I needed the cash for something, so I had to take the job. I didn't mold any blocks but I was just into supervision work.

I've worked in the Charlie Chaplin factory. 😄 No, I haven't, just grocery stores, building houses, and restaurants. I think the pay is way higher in factories, but I haven't tried it

I did for about 1/2 a day through a temp agency for Sugardale Meats back in the mid-90's. I had to oversee the quality of hot dogs and make sure they got packaged properly. The whole building was kept at 36 degrees and if you so much as sniffled a USDA inspector would pull you off the line and send you back to resanitize. I mean, I guess it was a good thing, but when the whistle blew to signal lunch was over I just clocked out and walked out to my car and left, lol.

I think working in a factory would be mindless repetitive work. I hear they don't allow you to wear headphones or listen to music in most factories because you need to be able to hear whats going on. If I don't have music and I am doing a job like that, I'd go crazy. 😛

I've never worked in a factory. It seems challenging. :O

I've washed dishes before. If you don't have music you gotta figure some other way to deal with slow time.

I did. The factory used to make plastic bags for grocery stores. I was in charge to mix the tiny pieces of plastics with colors and other stuff. And also in the machines that makes the roles. It is fun to see how things work, but it doesn't take too long to become boring and repetitive. I lasted for 3 months.
