Expiring Yahoo email account

I have been receiving this kind of email purportedly from Yahoo with the subject pertaining to my email account that is about to expire. There is a link that I should click to update my account and prevent it from being deleted. I know this is an old spam or scam but until now I still don’t know the truth behind it. What kind of website is that link connected to?

This message is normally shown by yahoo if you are not using that mail ID frequently for that you need to access account at-list one time in month. I am not more sure about it if is there any modification in my ans your most welcome.

Just make sure to login once per month and it won't expire.
