Somehow, I have an extra Google Chrome icon on my computer that I cannot seem to get rid of. When I use Google Chrome, I always get that redirect icon instead of the usual one which is the Google Chrome logo. Is there a way to get rid of the extra icon and make it go back to the regular one?

This is a simple caching issue when Chrome updated, try clearing cache. Have you tried to just delete the broken icon?

That is pretty much a dead hyperlink to a piece of software, I do not know why you cannot delete that.

I have never faced such a problem but i would think that theres a registry key left behind that Windows is searching a file behind which doesnt exist so you get a placeholder and an error when to try to click it 🙂

So you have to find that broken key and delete it, BUT backup your registry in beforehand cause you can brick your system inside the registry really fast.

Try and install chrome again and clear your system. That's the main two factors here. Maybe the image isn't located right?

Mine point that the shortcut works! Right?

This is the exact thing that can be done to get rid of that broken icon. But usually registry keys are riskier to access and any changes made can change the whole operating system.

Might be a good idea to simply check the shortcut first 🙂

Firstly you need to uninstall the Google chrome, then clean your system with CCleaner.com or systemcarepro.net. After then install the google chrome.
