For many forum niches like admin, promotion, webmaster and etc. we can offer additional services on our forums including advertising, posting and etc.

Do any of you do this for revenue earning at all? If yes, has it proved to be a good source of revenue for your forum?

Advertisement/monetising is pointless to say. Even large websites with a large amount of traffic earn nothing, the time they pay off their servers and whatnot they lose then making. Just having so much monetising to the point that puts people off.

Most people here, tend to make their profit in posting services or other odds and ends. End of the day most see it as not making money.

I agree with this.

But if there are a few viral articles, that can change the fate of a forum drastically. Useful content is always good in bringing traffic if not money.

Doing blogs and selling them on other websites at $10 or $50 a time.

Any, the more words the more cost. Simple and common sense.

Are any of you hired by website owners to post daily, weekly, monthly on their sites? if so what do you charge.

Bizdustry has marketplace options for the users, but very few users are taking advantages of it, due to a large amount of them are there just to earn a few cents a day; as a good number of them are from Nigeria. Most of them don't understand that they can actually market what they do in a online marketplace, instead of relying on people to tell them of the next best place to post for money.

I have previously posted on a few sites that had paid for monthly options. Though the easier way to get the requests, is to charge less, with being upfront about the potential of not getting the best quality content, because of the price per post being lower than expected.

Oh Ozzy, remember the old days when we could offer a username color and a few extra signature lines? Maybe access to a looser rules private board and a user group name?

Those were the days!

But now premium membership needs to have way more bang for the buck. But if you're committed to it, you might be able to bank on it.

I recommend trying to somehow create a course for your forum's topic and sell it as the membership. Make it an ongoing course so you can charge on a monthly basis rather than an annual unless you want to give an annual offer with a little discount to entice folks to buy in.

I haven't monetize my forum. I've been thinking of ways to monetize my blog though.

Somethings I've been looking into are.....
- offering a paid membership plan
- affiliate marketing
- sponsored posts/reviews
- starting a podcast

There are a lot of ways to generate revenue, for instance charging members for signature links, charging members for marketplace services, etc. However, your site should be really big to attract advertisers.

Most of the time people don't have the money to spend on their forums so it's usually pretty small fry.

I was given an offer to post on Bizdustry for 10 cents a post. I passed on it.

I only have ads for Guests, so making an account automatically removes that. As far as other methods, I currently don't really support them (ex; selling actual ad slots, sponsors, etc.) since they seem to never align with the focus on my community or its users.
