Extremly large phpBB powered forum comes back online

^Meh, theyll make that up in no time at all. Im not sure why its like that, as that is odd I agree, but some could have been lost in the backups or something, you just never know. Im sure theyll be getting a few more posts now -😉-

Chances are a large majority of their members sign up for free downloads or some other thing only logged in members can access ~rolleyes~

There are in fact two bigger phpBB boards than the one I linked on the first page. Have a look at the list here:

http://rankings.big-boards.com/?filter=phpBB,all

Sadly, a few of the top few have removed the phpBB copyright ~rolleyes~

They might have had a huge spam issue for months/years also which would cause the member count to be high -🙂-

I know, I posted the link to them a few posts above ~razz~

@Jason: Afraid not. The phpBB team don't accept donations. I guess you could remove the copyright and buy a bertie to settle your guilty conscience ~smile~

I would lol, I love working with forums like that. The more members, posts, and staff the better they are to run imo. If yuore not laying restless in bed at night worrying, then your doing something wrong -lol-

I do wonder though, how long does it take the admin to do full site backups? That has to take awhile -bigeyes-

how come hosting company's allow people to pay e.g 20dollars and have the copyright removed then?

Hosting companies charge people to remove the phpBB copyright? I know some free hosts allow you to remove the hosting copyright "Hosted by blahblah" for a fee but they shouldn't charge for the removal of the actual phpBB copyright.

If the companies are collecting on that, someone should tell phpBB's lawyers -razz-

I do now, and always will leave phpBB's copywrite in place. Honestly, it couldnt get any better as they allow you alot of freedom with it. You can place it just about anywhere, and all the want is a link back. Its better than hosting companies that force blocky ads, or worse...popups -evil-

As phpBB is GPL I don't think, legally, the copyright must remain in the footer. I know it has to remain in the PHP files but as far as the footer guys are legally allowed to remove it. May be wrong though
