Hi all,

From your experience what would you say is a good Facebook engagement rate? My Facebook page, which I've had for a little over a month now, currently has over 2.5k fans and is vastly heading towards 3k (I'm hoping to reach 3k by the end of the week). Most of my fans are from the UK, aged between 13-25, and have an interest in video games (that's my target audience).

Although my target audience isn't gender-specific, most of my fans are male (according to my insights, we're talking 97% male and 3% female). That's quite a difference!

I find a good time to reach my target audience is 5pm weekdays.

My question is, what's a good engagement rate? My posts on average reach between 1k-2k people yet seem to receive 100 likes or less. From my experience, engagement is always less than reach regardless of which social platform you use. I suppose my question is, what's a good percentage?

Here's some stats I'd like to share with you. Would you consider this good?

From the looks of it I'd say you're doing pretty good for a new page. How are you getting likes? Page Share Groups? Or Facebook ads?

Here is a screen shot of my new page with only 200+ likes.

Perhaps this will help you compare and contrast. I've sorted mine from Most to least Reach/Engagement.

I'd say that you're doing very well! For the amount of users you're reaching, quite a few of them are engaging. I've read that most people only expect a small percentage (1%-5%) of their audience to actually interact with their posts. It obviously becomes harder to get a higher percentage as the size of your audience increases, but I'd still say that your page is pretty popular so far. I'd try to look at the posts that have succeeded and see if they have anything in common that you can try to replicate in the future. 🙂

Yes, I've noticed that the time you post also impacts on how many people your post reaches and subsequently how much engagement it gets.

To clarify, if I post something at 5pm it'll reach substantially more people than if I post the same post at 9pm at night, even if I observe both posts over a 24 hour period. I'm not sure exactly how Facebook's algorithm works but unlike Instagram where posts don't get buried, Facebook doesn't guarantee that your post will be shown so timing your post is important I find.

What I'd like to do is increase my engagement rate even more. For example, I posted a post yesterday evening at 5pm (it was scheduled so went live at exactly 5pm) and, so far, it's reached over 1.3k people but only has around 64 likes and 6 comments. It says the engagement rate is 22% for that post. Either I'm missing something or those figures don't add up. Ideas?
