Facebook Page Updates, and Why I Hate Them?

Recently, Facebook has updated the look of its pages, although the press seem to call this a good thing, I don't really think so and here is why?

Content

For a user, the most important thing when visiting a website is content, but the way the facebook page is now designed means that you have to scroll down sections of the page that your not looking for. You are wanting the posts. I have no idea why they have placed sections on the page timeline, it has really put me off using facebook and visiting the pages.

Bugs

There is so many bugs with the new system it is actually unreal, the other day I had to hide an element of my page as it got stuck and began to shake, as I scrolled down. now that the page layout is different it gives you the owner no control over what content gets displayed.

Conclusion

I have stopped using facebook for my social interactions, its clunky and gets in the way. I like an easy system where the first thing I see is the pages recent posts, I do not care about old photos or videos.

Does anyone else feel the same way as I do?

I prefer using Twitter is faster better and popular

The update doesn't really bother me to be honest, but I don't really use FB pages all that much. I'm sure a lot of testing, design work, and polling went into the new layout. It's a huge site and they wouldn't just put something out Willy nilly.

Also, Facebook is actually more "popular" then Twitter with many more users.

Lastly, I am confused why this is posted in the debate section, this is just a general discussion topic which fits better in the intellectual talk forum

Well, we are debating whether it is good, you like it I do not, this makes it a debate!

I do think a lot of design editing went into it but I prefer the group page layout. the page layout now means you have to scroll down until you get to the content. I visit pages and its just clunky, I am not talking about the timeline which is where most users interact.

Also it lags or takes time to load up. the layout doesn't fuss me it's what Facebook is! and it always has been an place that it's private or allot of people got messed up badly. yeah! gotta say it has improved but it;s the people that use it

I am not sure what you are seeing exactly. I use Facebook pages to manage two of my company's Facebook pages and they look nothing like that. You may have (if you have not already) clear your cache. This is what I see on mine (screen shot from my laptop so I took it of what you would see most of when scrolling though.)



I am assuming you are looking at it from a mobile phone by the layout, but it still looks the same on my phone also.

I stopped using Facebook years ago as I just could not take it with all the shares of stuff that people really believed must be true as it was on Facebook. It was almost as if everyone lost their ability to reason and even think.

OK I see what you mean now! I thought you meant the way the numbers look jacked up! Yes, I do agree with you, it is annoying and you should be able to dictate the layout of your pages...well...page.
