Facebook phone dev. rumours, will u get a FB branded phone?

There are rumours that Facebook plans to make a smartphone to compete with other smartphones like the iPhone: http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/technology/ ... martphone/

I'm not sure, I get a Facebook phone since I don't really use Smartphones or Tablets much on a daily basis, but I think there are a lot of people who might get a Facebook phone if the phone also supports Android Apps, popular apps like Dropbox, Angry Birds, etc and web apps found on Facebook like Farmville and all those FB games, and it's user interface is easier to use then Google Android or Apple iOS.

Plus, there are a lot of people who spend hours a day on Facebook, so having a phone which is made for Facebook might be attractive to people who mostly go on Facebook when they are online.

I agree Facebook is trying to take over a lot of the web. Almost every big and medium sized website I go on now like Digg.com has a Facebook Connect Login option, Facebook Fanpage, Like button, Facebook profile link in the Profile section for members on forums and blogs, share button, or an article/post about a Facebook game, feature or news about Facebook.

Exactly, it kind of makes me laugh that other social websites have facebook logins, or like buttons. Facebook is trying to become more powerful, to powerful, I think they need to calm down a bit, lol. Who knows, maybe a couple of year down the road facebook will be like myspace, dead.

They can't make a functional iPhone app, so I don't think a phone would be better. As I've said to others, if Facebook bothers to make anything other that the network they created such as a browser(as rumored) I won't bother touching it.

They think there going to be a superpower of sorts but the day will soon come when it will fall, just like MySpace. It just may be on this downfall since their IPO didn't go over so well.

I would never buy a facebook phone, I don't even like to have my personal account and would close it down if there was an easier way to contact family and friends & share pics/video.

Facebook is hiring outside help from former iPhone Engineers to make the FB phone according to an Article I read at http://www.metro.co.uk/tech/900432-face ... smartphone .

People may buy the Facebook Phone if it is like a cheaper price version of the iPhone because the FB phone, and with more social and web app features built into the phone's operating system, and buttons to make it easier for less tech savvy people to share photos, videos, and content on Facebook, Instagram, and other social sites.

I think if Facebook buys Opera, and make a custom Facebook mobile web browser to make sharing and posting on FB, Twitter, etc easier on Opera Mobile on the FB phone it can make using the mobile web easier.

Seems like Facebook is trying to be like the government or something.

Besides, forums are better in my opinion, though.

Didn't they already have the "HTC Status"? Wasn't that supposed to be the 'official Facebook Phone"? 😛

I heard the HTC Status never got very popular since the screen was too tiny for games, multimedia, and video, and the Facebook button did not work for some people when it was first released.

Plus, the HTC Status uses Google Android instead of a operating system made by Facebook,

Honestly, this doesn't surprise me one bit. Facebook is getting bigger and bigger as each year passes. While I never would have expected a phone, it's only natural to assume that they would continue to branch out and try different things. Who knows, if they go through with this it might actually be somewhat of a success. After all, it's Facebook we're talking about here; it's the second most successful site on the web, right behind Google (assuming I have my information correct).
