A New York judge issued a temporary restraining order against the social networking site Facebook after a New York man sued the company, claiming he owns an 84% stake in it.

Paul Ceglia filed a suit in the Supreme Court of New York's Allegany County on June 30, claiming that a 2003 contract he signed with Facebook founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg entitles him to ownership of the company and monetary damages.

Ceglia claims that he signed a contract with Zuckerberg on April 28, 2003, and that he paid $1,000 to develop and design a Web site in exchange for a 50% stake in the product.

Sounds like a load of bull to me.

I'm curious to see how he will prove it. If he wins, what does that mean for Facebook?

It is odd that he is starting the lawsuit after so many years after Facebook opened. He might have a better chance of winning if he sued earlier since some of the witnesses might be hard to find, dead, not competent to stand trail (in a coma) or not friends with him anymore and could care less if he wins or lose, so they won't testify in court.

Plus, a lot of the written and paper evidence is probably missing, thown out or destroyed if any exist unless he kept everything.

I think if he wins he just want a percentage of the earnings, and a majority ownership in Facebook. By the sounds of the lawsuit, he just seems to be starting the lawsuit for financial gain and a large ownership in Facebook.

I think he probably won't want Facebook to shut down. He just want most of it for himself to milk it for cash.

Restrain means to block, resist.

So i guess that person isn't allowed to visit Facebook.

Well if he does get some of Facebooks shares I can see him covering facebook in ads.

Indeed, he sounds more greedy then Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook since this guy wants a 83% share in Facebook instead of the orginal 50% share.

I like Facebooks current Ad System though 🙁 I hate when people do stuff like this. 😛
