So recently, I've thought about using social media to promote my forum more but I'm not sure which would be effective to give me more exposure and increase activity for it. I mean, the two sites I mentioned are the most-popular as we all know but, I don't know what would be more worth it. To be honest, I was more leaning towards Twitter as I think it'd be more convenient for me.

Thoughts, anyone?

Both, use both and promote using them. And if you find that one giving more results with the other then I say still use both. I have used titter alot and focus more on that, However FB has pages, and even that I haven't point allot of affect into my FB pages I say I should and would got allot of traffic

Both are effective but I think you will need to spend some money on promoting.

well, you can do it for free to an point!

I'd rather use the money for other things, and that my money situation is pretty tight at the moment, but I'm sure you can just do it for free as what Empire said. All I just want to do is make itself known to the masses by each status/tweet I make, each containing the link to a certain thread and such. As long as I have enough followers that is, haha 😛

Neither of them are too effective, unless you have a huge following. When you start new accounts for your forum and they both have zero followers/friends, not many people are going to see the things you’re posting on there.

I'm using both channels, but FB is more effective than Twitter. I also run FB Ads campaigns to get traffic too.

Facebook is usually more effective, but its updates and changes recently made in function make it less preferable. I don't know about twitter though.

They dont like anything that pulls traffic away from their site. This is one of the major changes I notice with them as of late.

In Japan, Twitter is king.
In western nations, Facebook is king.

Facebook is generally being viewed as difficult to use, no idea where to start, no idea how to get any followers, etc.
And people are generally shy, so sharing real names online is a huge no-no, with the consequence that it's impossible to find anyone you know there.

I personally like neither, both got extremely politicised these days.
I use Mastodon as my main SNS now.

I believe you will see more result from facebook than twitter. Just don't overdo to prevent your URL for being ban

Both are effective but Facebook marketing is better than twitter because you can generate more leads by Facebook advertising. This the best lead generation tool.

I vote for facebook, because it has a lot of insights and potential visitors.
In facebook all you have to do is find a group that is related to your niche and isn't too strict in sharing links.
while in twitter you need to get more followers before you can generate a good traffic.

I think it also depends on your target audience. If your target audience is more involved on FB over Twitter, naturally you're gonna get a bigger following on FaceBook. Even if you can share a lot of links, and advertise to your hearts desire on Facebook, that won't do you any good if your target audience doesn't see it cause they simply don't use that medium.

I have an active Facebook account so it is logical that I will go for Facebook instead of Twitter. However, if your Twitter account is more active and you have more active friends there then probably you can focus on Twitter for promoting your forum. It's different when you have close friends in social media who are willing to lend a hand especially when the niche of the forum is relevant to them.

I thought they are both promising and have both great advantages when promoting something. The trick to have an effective promotion using these two popular social media platforms is to have a lot of followers to reach a large majority of people. In Twitter you can always track the activity of your tweets so I guess it's more better than Facebook in terms of these feature.

Both are good, but Facebook is much better. This is the very easy platform for marketing any kind of business and you can easily target your potential customers. In Facebook Paid marketing also effective to generate business.
