Has it happened to you before? If so where? And how does it happen? I'm quite puzzled on how we can fall for someone on a forum.

Ive heard stories of people meeting and conversing back in forth on a forum.. Then it went to private emails or IM'ing then it went to phone calls then it went to meeting and getting together. One person on my forum, beowulf, met his wife on some forum. She was a moderator I think. 😛

ive met at least 12 different women from online in person. years ago when i had AOL, i used to hang out in a chatroom for the state i live in. after awhile talking to people everyday you just go out to eat with them or something. people throw internet parties with people from online. i used to travel hours by car with friends just to party with people from online. nothing ever came from any relation i had with anyone i met but i had some fun

There's dating sites that make all that possible, I know someone who is currently married to someone he met online, and they weren't even in the same Country.

I experimented with this during the rise of AOL/AIM. Chatrooms and IM's were all the rage, and I had a few relationships with some 'girls' online... they all failed miserably. I've learned the hard way, that there are losers that want to mess with your head.

I tried the same with dating sites, nothing. I tried social media, nothing. Nothing but stupid spam.

I've seen this happen many times. Not sure how you can fall in love with someone without meeting them first in person and getting to know them in real life.

Falling in love on the internet is creepy. 😛
But, I guess there is someone out there for everyone, even if they have never met in person.

I don't believe in it unless it involves a camera, then it's a lot easier to discern the truth from the lies.

What about us?

It might happen if you video chat with someone on Skype or MSN, but it is harder to fall in love with someone you just meet via Instant message, e-mail, or text based communication methods and a few photos which can be fake or a picture of a good looking person which they stole off the internet.

Meh.
I don't believe in it, personally.
Like, it's not an avenue I'd take.

But to people who do - whatever. Good on them, I wish them the best.

I don't believe you can truly fall in love over the internet - the trust, personal relationship, etc that is vital for love can never be done over the internet. If; however, you find someone you like on the internet and meet up, I suppose you could fall in love from there.

I would personally try to avoid it - I try to keep my online life partially separate from my real life and think finding love over the internet would be bother dangerous and fruitless.
