Fallout: New Vegas

um...confusing is bad. With such a large world one would never finish if you didnt know where to go. A big part of RPGs is the content of the missions they send you on...the story they tell...not mindlessly wandering around not knowing if the answer is behind a locked door or not.
Well yeah, since Bethesda and bioware have developed a strangehold over the once great genre things have been that way. Play a pre-diablo rpg and you'll see that RPGs once were the pinnacle of gaming.

I'm not saying Bioware or Bethesda are bad companies. Hell, Bethesda's fun-when-modded actions games have made them extremely rich, and bioware has found the perfect audience for dating sims. If anything, Blizzard is to blame for the decline of the genre.

Being required to think != confusing
I think you miss the point. There is no thinking required. This is not like Zelda (NES). What I am talking about is getting an early side quest that requires me to have an insane lock pick lvl to get through a door I dont even know I need to get in to. If you have played fall out you know that there are many doors, computers, and repairs along the journey that you wont have high enough access to get into but they are typically not required for the actual quest. They are usually treasure rooms because they know not everyone is going to be that high of lvls. Without knowing I needed to go into that room to solve the quest I naturally spent wasted time looking elsewhere. If they would have told me I needed to find the data in a locked room I might understand. Also, the fact that it required such a high lvl lock pick skill is not cool. I spent all that time on the side quest only to realize at the end my lock pick skill was not high enough to get the data even though I did the work to get there? How does that make any sense at all?

Just go back there later then. Current quest I'm at I'm waiting till I get 70 science and at 54 right now, 9 intelligence though so next level + skill book and I'll complete it the way I want.

Yea, that is how I knew the data was in that room (vault 22 quest).

I think I may be approaching the game wrong. Instead of going through the main questlines I was doing the side quests to lvl up for the main quest. Guess maybe I should do the main quest first and the side quests later.

I really dont like the need to get into these high lvl rooms. All I uprage when lvl up is lock pick, science, and repair, knowing I will need those above all else.

Also, I dont like that you need to use a perk(s) on the Gore option...I have already used 2 perks on that I could have used to actually upgrade my character.

I wish I was at 9 intelligence...I dont know what I was thinking when I started...for some reason I missed that intelligence gives you more skill points when lvl up so now I am using the perk to add a skill point to intelligence whenever I lvl up trying to get back on track.

Nah doing sidequests is basically the way to play the game. I've beaten the game and reverted to a save right before that for my character, but I'll probably do without the main quest next time and dick around as a tribal.

Heard it's a lag festival
It is. I havnt gotten any updates from Live though, not sure if there is one or not. There are frequent hiccups in the game...brief pauses that glitch the game. frustrating.

When you die I see that it freezes, other than that haven't had many problems. I beat the game no problem but after that some places have been glitching on me. Red Rock Canyon also seems to have a low framerate for me.
