Are you planning to visit Philippines one of these days? Last time, I mentioned some famous street foods here. This time, I will give you some ideas about our famous dishes here.

This dish is lechon. This is very popular and usually seen in festive celebrations like feasts and special occasions. It's crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. It is usually paired with a sweet sauce.

Another famous dish is adobo. Its sauce is made of a mixture of vinegar and soy sauce. Variations include pork and chicken. Some put pineapples or hard boiled eggs as toppings. I consider this the most popular dish of all. This is usually the tourist favorite. Both Western and Asian tourists really love this dish. This is the dish they remember most.

If you love peanut sauce, then you shouldn't miss trying this dish. Another famous dish here is kare-kare. This is made of pork and peanut sauce. Green leafy vegetables are put as toppings in this dish. This dish goes well with shrimp paste. This dish is my favorite.

Lastly, we have our bulalo. This is our bone marrow stew. We crave for this stew at cold weather, just like Japanese people craving for hot pot. This dish includes beef bone marrow and cartilage topped with leafy vegetables and corn. Some pair this with spicy fish sauce.

All these dishes go well with rice meals. We usually eat them with rice. You may want to try them when you visit Philippines in the future. You will definitely enjoy your meals with these dishes. What are the famous dishes in your country? Can you show me some pictures?

I love pork but I don’t want to see the poor dead pigs face before I eat him.

I can testify that adobo is good. Too bad there is no Filipino restaurant in my hometown.

Wow! Thank you for appreciating our dish. Adobo is indeed the most famous dish for the tourists. Tourists of different races really love it. Adobo is their favorite and the most memorable dish for them.

I know it's very unusual for foreigners to see this dish. I've actually seen Korean tourists here watching how this lechon was made. They look amazed as they watch it being cooked. They even took pictures of it. I have good news for you. Sometimes, this dish is served without the head. They sometimes serve it chopped so you won't see the pig
s dead face.

Is there someone here from the Middle East? During lunch yesterday with my colleagues, one topic was the dish which is wrapped in grape leaves. Similar to spring roll, I suppose it is meat that is rolled with the grape leaves as the wrapper. I think the leaves are steamed to make it soft. Do you know what that dish is called? What is the meat inside, goat's meat or beef?

All of the dishes that you post are my favorite! I'm drooling right now and can't wait to taste each one of those especially, Lechon from Cebu. I also miss eating Gotong Batangas, Tokneneng/Kwek-Kwek, Balut and much more. I'm hungry right now!
