It seems like things are moving so fast these days, so fast that no one ever really knows what's going on. There's always some new library, some new stack, some new pre-processor, some new software, some new start-up, some new W3C spec, a dozen new browser features, etc.
Back in the "good old days" (lol), you could go for really long periods of time without much of anything happening (thanks IE 😛 lol) and what little happened was like water in a desert and announced long in advance of it really taking effect.
