Do you design favIcons often? Do you like favIcons? What's your favorite favIcon you've seen so far?

Personally, I can't say I've designed a favIcon, but I'll probably end up doing it 😛. I am a fan of favIcons, as they give a site personality on my bookmarks bar 😛 TBH I think my favorite favIcon would be a friend's forum's favIcon. It's a nice little gradient with some text and a cool little stripe rainbow pattern; really cool 🙂

making a favicon may look easy up front but it is quite difficult because you need to make it look clear in that small space

Anyway, I'm not big on favicons. Like tendify said, simple is better. I just use a favicon generator to make mine from scratch, then I'm done. Not a whole lot of thought goes into making them.
