What is everyone's favorite host, and why? Additionally how much do they charge?

I'm looking into getting one and this information would be fantastic. 😉

The only recent shared host I used, which I loved, was HostingCove. 🙂

Edit: They cost $12 / year for their smallest plan which has 750mb diskspace. If you want a larger plan I would recommend you check out their offers on WebHostingTalk as that'll save you a lot!

There are many great web hosts, some with small teams and some corporate size. I tend to think it's usually a question of what you are looking for, what you will be satisfied with, what your budget is, etc. From the top of my head, there's the market giant - HostGator, DreamHost, BlueHost, Eleven2, StableHost, WiredTree to name a few.

But I would like to suggest Simplix.net and as you asked "why?" Because in simple words, we provide what we say. When you are looking to host your website, what's the most idealistic features you want?
First and foremost, you do not want your website to be frequently/never down or slow; no, those days are long over. You want good support, support that will resolve any issues quickly and adequately, support that will talk to you in simple human language. And of course, affordability matters; at Simplix.net, we can promise you will pay for service you want and deserve. 🙂

As Sam said, WebHostingTalk is the place where you will find the best of hosting, no matter what you need. VPS, Dedi or shared, you will find one for very cheap price and with great support.
I used HawkHost once and it was good but now I don't because I bought VPS from another company.
