What is your favorite forum software?

My favorite is IPB just because of the cool modern look.

XenForo is typically what I join. I'm a retired forum owner and I have no desire to run one anymore so I go with what's best from a regular users standpoint. It works good on any device and the alerts system help me keep up with people replying to my posts.

IPB is okay but their latest versions have left me feeling awkward and alienated. I suppose I'm just not on enough IPB forums and I haven't gotten used to it.

We had this topic before? I have two on my list and I only use one 😛

IPB Is my favorite, Yeah! it cost to have an licence but the end results are very cool on what you get and the support team is just like family they really help out even on there days off.

Should consider running an test version for 30 days to see and feel what it's like.

My secound option is also paid again, XenForo it comes after IPB with it's Apps and allot of plugins for it. I also like the way it's been made and designed.

MyBB would be it for me. I've tried a couple others out before, but they weren't as well-rounded. Also, MyBB is way easier to skin.

phpBB for me, but then again that's the only one I really have experience using. vBulletin scores pretty well on this forum software comparison (here if anyone else also wants to have a read) in terms of security/performance at least, so I'd be tempted to try it. Although of course it costs a bit of extra $$

I like nearly all types of software, but I'm used to XenForo, so that's what I normally go with. However, though, getting into MyBB more sounds fun.

Anyway, though, one big thing in favor of paid software is security, but I don't really think much about it. But I'd like to believe MyBB isn't as easy to hack as some might think.

Note, there are some problems with paragraph spacing on MyBB and phpBB, but I think what I saw was due to lack of updating.

I've tried most of the free ones and can say that ElkArte is one of my favourite forum software, it's not 'just a fork' of SMF 2.1 but adds some new functionality and is pretty stable, especially considering it is forked from non-production-ready software.

Mybb is mine and SMF although SMF has plugin uploader which is better if you adding plugins also @NepScarlet ElkArte I have tired using ElkArte how do you upload plugins on it like is there a plugin uploader (Sorry for the off topic post).

It's not off-topic 🙂

Admin Panel > Package Manager > Upload Package
Then Browse Packages and you should be able to go from there.
