I love mousse/espresso cakes, tiramisu, panettone (a kinda cake too for Xmas) personally. A friend of mine has an Italian wife (he's Asian and his kids are half-Asian, half-Italian), she's made me some awesome bite-sized Italian desserts for Xmas a long time ago.

I absolutely love tiramisu. Every time we go to my favorite Italian restaurant (or any Italian restaurant) I have to order the dessert because it's absolutely delicious. I enjoy it with a nice cup of coffee, such a perfect combination.
Biscotti might be a good option. Eggs sugar, spices, baked twice. And it would be delicious to have together with the inevitable coffee that Italians need to help digest all the food they just ate!

It's Vaccaro's, down in Little Italy - and apparently, they do ship, too. It's one of the fun things about hitting the Italian Festival (when they are holding that).
