I like http://www.mywot.com/ since it tells me if a website is safe or not based on user reviews from around the world. I have it installed in IE, Firefox, and Chrome.

I also have it installed on my Firefox browser. It blocks dangerous sites before I can even enter. Most of these are from pop-ups and the like.
Another good add-on is the Google Toolbar.
