Features a GENERAL forum should have?

Not wanting posts such as 'Too many out there' or anything of the sort as I do not really care if there are millions of general forums out there. I already know so do not need to be told again.

Anyhow - What features do you think a general forum should have?

A points system to buy upgrades, awards, perks, etc.

Achievements system, where users get some achievement awards when the reach certain post count, referral or something.

The My achievements plugin by Pirata is best suitable for it.

Yeah a points system, achievements system. Maybe an arcade to play games.

Obviously, a general discussion needs something unique to enable for itself to stand out of the pack especially considering the massive amount of them out there, the trick is finding what that something is.

The main feature a general discussion needs is a good community. 😉 The only thing that will help a general discussion forum gain members and stand out is a great community.

Well...I like to see a lottery feature on these and some fun competitions obviously.
