Features not needed

What are some features on your forum software that you don't need and don't think are needed for the forum software?

Most forum softwares come with a calendar feature, but I've never come across a forum that uses it much if not at all.

My forum doesn't have that but there's a mod for it. I think that's pointless. 😛

I don't use the jump box feature that comes with phpBB and I remove it from my templates, I also find the add friend/foes pretty pointless but there are some mods that do add to it.

The one thing I think is useless is the full post reply as you have quick reply and 95% of users use quick reply.

Well, I have came across the calandar feature, never used tbh. Also on ForuMotion you get UserGroups in the nav bar which I find pointless when you can view it at the bottom.

I never use the calendar feature on my forum or any forum myself. It's pretty pointless. Of course, if you wanted to note some dates with which you were going to hold some major contest or something, that'd probably be the only thing it's good for, but that's about it.

You can also just disable it in your Load Settings 😉

Jabber, phpBB3 has had this since the start. I am not even sure 100% what Jabber is but i have yet to see a forum that actually makes use of it.

Yeah I know that, I was making a point of saying I don't have it in my templates. as it still uses room even if it's displayed or not, something you would know if you had built a style.

Jabber, phpBB3 has had this since the start. I am not even sure 100% what Jabber is but i have yet to see a forum that actually makes use of it.

I thought about deleting it but it might make my forum die.

Actually, we use ours, or at least are starting too, we have a mod that searches for events etc which she then adds to the calender and all forum events (weekly quizzes, enrollment dates for courses etc) are placed on there. No idea if users actually use it mind you! :lol:

On vBulletin, Social Groups are really pointless. There's always hundreds of them on forums and only 1 or 2 active groups. Blogs never get too much attention either.

WYSIWYG editors in vB4 and SMF2. Maybe I'm just old fashioned but I really prefer BBcode. I also hate html WYSIWYG editors.
