Ok so you keep getting those annoying malware sites slowing down sites loading, you know the ones I mean, and no matter what you pump into Adblock, they still seem to get past it.

Well heres a couple of solutions :

If you have FF install the Adblock Plus v 2.1.1

if that is not working you have to get more drastic, thankfully windows is there to help:

Go to your computer files :
Windows>system32>drivers>etc>hosts

Open the hosts file in notepad, remember to run notepad "as administrator"

Once open you will see a small file, at the bottom you will see a list of URL's preceded by 127.0.0.1.

All you have to do is add a line similar to those already there eg:

127.0.0.1 txtserv.com

That should stop your PC/laptop connecting to those sites, thus speeding up your connection.

All you are doing is adding sites manually to your "blocked" list

Thanks for the tips! In addition to Malware prevention, Privacy Suite extention in firefox blocks all unwanted tracking services as well as third party cookies.

I have never had the experience of "Mods" slowing down FF. What do you mean by that, what mods in particular?

I think he's referring to FF extensions and add on's

The problem is that mods slow down Firefox

Doesn't slow down FF on my end 🙂

EDIT: Perhaps Privacy Suite is an overkill (it has saved password forms and all that crap that I don't even use) but you can download DoNotTruckPlus and it is a small extension that is made by the same guy that blocks tracking and unwanted cookies.
