Remember, if you take a break your forum isn't going to grow / look good while you have left.

I agree to an extent, taking a break when a forum is small is not a good move generally, but if your forum is established I don't think the forum will miss its owner for short amount of time, particularly if there is another high ranking member of staff that can be left in charge. (I am talking short breaks though, like a week)
