I am sorry to hear that most freeforums.org forums have lost lots of data from there board and in some cases lost their whole board completely. If you have lost your whole board completely and you have started it again or you have lost some posts/members then you are allowed to post in this section without have to meet the 4 posts required to post in this forum and i will try to join as many as i can to help you recover some of the lost data.
I know this isn't much to help you if you have lost loads of data but i hope it is a help. -🙂-
lol, ok. I havnt had freeforums that long and all, but if they have more problems and more people's forums get deleted, i want to change..Know any rlly good sites where i can get a forum for free? lol i dont pay for websites.. 😀
They have been having problems since about 2 days after i signed up which was over 3 months ago. The forums were once down for about nearly 2 days in one go and they were saying i will be back within the next hour then 2 hours later they would say give it another hour or 2. Even when they are up they are usually slow.
As for free hosts if you want phpBB i would recommend http://www.editboard.com which i have used before and had no trouble with.
I would however recommend this host as a really good ipb host. http://ipbfree.com
These both have ads but i would recommend staying with freeforums as long as you can as they will be good when they get over these problems. Although the "when" is the question.
thanks fowler :mrgreen: i'll check em out. I have been reading some of the freeforums support forum alot in the past few days. Trying to stay updated and all. I really like the way freeforums makes it easy to create a forum but it took me like 10 minutes to load my front page one time. So ill see how long i can take this outage problems, but if it doesnt turn up, like i said I'll just go to another forum provider.
Well, lost mine too. Well, not the boards, but 80% of its previous and updated composition. I managed to restore it manually, but not the posts, members and topics that were most memorable. (Lost 23 members out of 27, 200 posts out of 400 and 40 posts out of 60).
Freeforums said that their Backup Manager will be up on monday. That way I can create backups for my forum every week.
I'm going to be sticking with them for quite some time.
Oh well, My Site is slowly rebuilding. Thank goodness I made manual backups for my portal and good memory. Otherwise. I'd be screwed or would have moved to another host.

I got 9 members in total. Although embarassed to say that 6 of them are moderators/administrators.
Anywho, the forums are bustling with activity. And Im looking for ways (again) to advertise the forums.
my forum didnt loose the whole board but a forum where i was a moderator on did and there is nothing left they had like 25 members and 50-100 posts but i hope everything will be worked out when they get phpbb3 but for now my board pspblazin we have moved off of freeforums we bought a domain and moved left posts and everything but at lest we wont loose all post and every thing now. and we have had bad luck becase we keep messing them up but oh well
I lost my forum and never restarted it but continued with my other forum. At first 1 day before the site was lost it said the server was under construction. http://www.propulseforum.com/ didn't get lost though. Does it have something to do with the domain names because the site I lost was under freeforums.org's domain and was lost but the one with it's own domain didn't get lost. Also will they lose sites again because I want to sign up again but this is my second site I lost with them.
The domain doesn't change whether your forum loses data or not as it is still on the same server. It is like changing the name of your house but if the postman is late then you will still get your post late like all the other houses as your are still in the same street.
No one can guarantee that they won't lose anything again but i think these servers are more secure but the alarming thing is tat they still don't have the back up available yet which was meant to be up 8 days ago and they feel that it is still not one of their priorities same at is wasn't really before the loss aswell -roll-
I think these Freeforum guys are doing their best though, and I do think it'll be worth it when we eventually get it all sorted out.
I think it will be worth it but i have been annoyed by them for far to long so unless the do get things sorted out and they have a period of stability then i might consider hem again and start recommending them again to people.
You can't really unless you get advanced hosting like i have. All freeforums.org forums are on the same servers whether you have a domain or not or whether you have copyright removal or not and so on.
