Fiery Duck is on fire, literally!

OMG! The Fiery Duck HQ is on fire! :shock:
This building has been standing for more than 100 years.
OMG! I cannot believe what I am seeing right now!

Here are some pics...this is crazy! :shock:

The fire started last night, I had a voicemail message this morning.
He was in shock, I'm not surprised! All i can say is BLOODY HELL! :shock:
I wondered why Fiery Duck, the 100% uptime hosting provider, was down this morning!

All was fine when I went to bed around 1am.
The fire started on the top floor where all the generators are.
Fire crews were called out shortly after 3am to a blaze with flames reaching 30 feet into the sky. The fire alarms awoke neighbouring houses and people came out of their homes at 3am to see this raging inferno across the street! :shock:

I should be apologising to my customers, but I'm kind of shocked and surprised! :shock:
But I really am sorry, guys! This is just unbelievable! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!! :shock: :shock:

This really is something that you shouldn't promote to non-customers..

He would most likely have no other way to tell people. His host site is most likely hosted on the server that burnt down so the server is destroyed so the site will be down. That most likely had the members emails and contact details though. Therefore this forum is the only way to go for it.

Why did he change from I to He and stuff .

He did say it started at the top floor at the generators...So most likely something with the generators. If they took the fire out fast enough it might have just burned the top floor and not the floors with the servers. You know you do need power to power a server 😛

I think I will keep a picture of that on my desktop to remind myself to backup, backup and backup some more. Hope that Fiery Duck has got backups, too.

Backups are very important anything can go wrong.

UPDATE:

Everything is a complete and utter mess.
And Hitakashi, the "he" was the guy who left the voicemail.
He worked there. A good friend of mine, now jobless. 🙁

I am still in shock, what with it being close to Christmas and all.
Fire investigators are still investigating. I think they are pretty sure it wasn't arsen.
But exactly what went wrong that night, I'm still waiting to find out.

The building is pretty much an empty shell, yet it still stands.
Roofless, yes. But it still stands none-the-less. Fire crews did their job.
Unfortunately, this building won't be back in service for a long time yet.

So, my plans for Fiery Duck?
Well, it's difficult really. Everything was lost, EVERYTHING! 🙁

I may reopen temporarily as a reseller with another hosting company.
Get things back on track, slowly. But to be quite honest, I still can't quite get over what happened. Things may never be as they were before.

I don't know, but anyway. I logged in today to wish you all a Happy Christmas, and to apologise to everyone affected by this disaster.

I hope to get back to you shortly with further updates.

Wow, that's really sad to hear. I hope you get everything sorted out. Is that house where you lived or was it solely for the hosting company?
